Why are infant formulas numbered and what do the numbers 1, 2, 3 refer to?

Stage 1: for babies from 0 to 6 months

The composition of the infant formula for the first 6 months is designed to provide a balanced diet for a baby from the very first days of its life.

Cow’s milk in this formula is processed and adapted for the age-related needs of a baby. The formula contains all the necessary substances for the proper growth and development of a newborn. It resembles the nutritional composition and properties of breast milk. Energy value in the formula corresponds to one that is specific to breast milk during this period.

Infant formula 1 (mark “1” on a packaging) is also called starting. The younger the baby is, the more it needs adapted milk power.

Stage 2: for babies from 6 to 12 months

The second half of the baby’s first year is a new stage of its body development. Your child needs more energy, minerals and vitamins, so the formula for newborns doesn’t fit it any more.

For babies aged six months and older we have worked out the follow-on formula (mark “2” on a packaging). It differs from the starting one as it has a more saturated nutritional composition, according to the increased needs of children in the second half of the first year. The formula has more protein, fat and micronutrients so that your baby would receive all the necessary elements for its growth and development.

Stage 3: for toddlers from 12 months up to 3 years

Although your child has reached 12 months of age, its body isn’t ready to digest and absorb pure milk yet. Besides, milk can cause an allergic reaction.

A possible source of essential nutrients for your child at this period is milk drink for toddlers from 12 months up to 3 years (mark “3” on a packaging).
